    wow. thats really ashame the obesity epidemic is making its way overseas. in the US obesity is slowly but surely replacing smoking as the leading preventable cause of morbidity and mortality.

    I find it kind of weird people in europe and the rest of the developed world would partake in our fast food culture. I mean the types of dining we consider “luxury” or “cultural” in the States are considered standard daily fair abroad (say a really nice pasta dish or sashimi, etc). Hmm, maybe the american diet has some special appeal over there? I dunno, i have no real basis for that thought, but i do remember seeing the ridiculously decked mcdonald’s in Rome (by the spanish steps) with marble floors, a bar, a water fountain and a balcony during my time there.

    i also wonder if the rest of the world is as sedentary as the us is presently and is becoming? is internet use/video gaming/TV watching/general couch potatoing as prevalent as it is in the states? i always assumed not, but maybe times are changing…………..
